Most Christian drummers have felt the same way one time or another and they have no idea how to get out of this frustrating place.
Believe it or not, there are two root problems causing these issues.
The Two Main Reasons Why Most Christian Drummers BARELY Improve
First, we have not placed a demand on people’s musical skills in the Christian world.
Simply put, we only need them to play just enough to get by on a Sunday morning (even though many of you are called to also play OUTSIDE of the church!)
We don’t demand greater levels of creativity.
But instead, we only ask people to copy songs that have been done a certain way.
That alone limits their creativity, and they blindly imitate what someone else did
And second, we don’t offer any precise training systems. Systems that will:
- Help people tap into their musical potential
- Improve their skill sets
- And release the creativity that they have hidden inside of them.
Because we, don’t offer this, we leave our drummers to fend for themselves. They scour the internet for random lessons and “tips” from other musicians.
So, they end up searching through thousands of YouTube “instructional” videos in desperation, trying to figure out what and how to practice.
Even when they find something useful to help them with their drumming, it is not part of a cohesive growth system.
They end up cherry-picking random “lessons.”
These two issues put a significant limit on their skills and creativity.
The Key To Drumming Breakthrough
You see, the BIG problem isn't their desire, motivation, or number of hours of practice on drums.
It is simply this: MUSCLE MEMORY.
Your hands and feet can’t physically play what’s already in your brain.
That’s because you haven’t trained yourself in drumming using muscle memory-building techniques.
Muscle memory is permanent memory.
The key is that if you learn something where you achieve true muscle memory, you always remember how to do it.
Think about when you ride a bicycle. Everyone knows it’s the one thing you never forget to do.
If you haven’t touched a bike for 15+ years, you can still ride it without relearning how to balance yourself!
It’s almost freaky that something so hard to learn is something that you never forget.
And you know what’s great about training your muscle memory?
You no longer have to use your precious brain capacity to think about those movements!
That’s right. This frees up your brain, and can use it to other things, such as musicality and creativity.
The key is muscle memory. If you learn the drumming foundations in a way that builds true muscle memory, you will always remember it and never regress.

I've been a New York-based professional touring drummer and worship pastor for over two decades.
I’ve played with renowned artists like Paul Wilbur, Steve Swanson, Rick Pino, Joshua Aaron, Misty Edwards, and many more.
My journey led me from a bachelor’s degree in music performance (percussion) to studying under the great Alan Abel of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
For the past twenty+ years, I’ve dedicated myself to the church worship movement in New York and New Jersey where I’ve led and taught musicians from over 150 different churches while still touring and pastoring.

- The Drummers of Faith is a course and community that will help drummers break through the ceiling of their own creativity and increase their skillset by accessing 20+ years of professional drumming and teaching experience in the F.A.C.T.S Drumming System (Fundamentals and Components Drumming System)
This course is based upon the foundational principle of training yourself correctly to build muscle memory. The longer you implement incorrect techniques and trainings, the more solidified these incorrect habits become.
YES! In fact, starting this system when you are in the beginning stages of your drumming life will help to build proper techniques, fundamentals, and muscle memory as foundations.
These happen approximately once/month based on the availability of our guest instructors.
- All special live guests and trainings will be uploaded to the app after the session is complete and students will have lifetime access to these sessions.
- There are thousands of free drum tutorials online, but the key to this program is that it is a cohesive, all inclusive training system that focuses on the 8 core areas of drumming and how to master each of these areas by using the included practice system.
- The key to progress with this drumming system is building muscle memory. To build muscle memory, consistency is much more important than quantity. Said another way, practicing 20 min a day 5 days a week is far more effective than practicing 3 hours, one day a week.
- The community group discussion groups all reside within the DOF app.
- Yes! All functionality in the WDA app can also be accessed from a web browser on any computer.
